Unmasked

Bob Marley is credited with saying “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice” and Tanya, the woman who on the outside had it all, well understood what he meant. She fell for flattery, lust and money and paid the price. Her minor sports celebrity husband controlled every aspect of her life. She coped by wearing a mask for the public. Long glossy hair, fashionable clothes, designer handbags, being seen in the right places fooled a lot of people or maybe they merely turned a blind eye. Inevitably she lost her shine, her money and her home. But losing her self esteem was by far the worst part of the very public break up.
Tanya’s story isn’t unique and will be familiar to many women and some men too. But her way of dealing with her seemingly overwhelming problems was certainly different. Tanya knew what she was good at. She dug deep and acknowledged her skills lay in helping people come to terms with things in their own way. She didn’t judge as many had judged her. The past cast long shadows, shadows that wrapped around your mind and affected your life, shadows that needed to be released.
Release, success and strength for Tanya came in the form of Therapeutic Respite. A bespoke service where clients could unleash their real selves to Delith, who ministered to their needs. Delith earned the money for services rendered and Tanya managed the business. Therapeutic Respite offered a safe place where everyday masks were removed and they could be themselves.
